Educational programs and material available
The educational programs of the Modern Greek Art Museum have a strong cultural basis -with representative works of artists that were considered to be the landmarks in the evolution of Modern Greek Art. Educational material is distributed for free to all children, in order to educate and familiarize them with art even after their visit to the museum.
The publications of the above mentioned department are very popular in the schools of the Dodecanese, among the Greeks that live abroad and the educational circles of the island of Cyprus. They have also won special awards for their exceptional quality. They are distributed for free to children in order to make the books of art a part of their educational procedure as well as their entertainment.
 
Click in Art
The adolescents of 15-18 years old have the chance to take part in tours that are organized and in discussions that are held, based on subjects related to visual arts. A CD Rom "Click in Art" is used for this purpose which consists a modern educational program of art that combines successfully the digital representation of specific parts of the Art Gallery with the game. This CD Rom informs the children regarding the contemporary works of art (from 1960 up to now) and at the same time it entertains them and enriches their images. This program "speaks" the language of the children.
The fish that followed its dream
This fairy tail, based on works of art from the collection of the museum, is addressed to children that attend the first classes of primary school. It is read to the children while they are in the Museum and more specifically in the exhibition halls. The teacher in cooperation with the person who escorts each class organizes some sorts of games to play with the children while reading the fairy tail.
Through the fairy tail we can approach more easily but at the same time in a substantial way the world of art. Besides from a fairy tail it consists a very helpful educational material not to mention a valuable album of creations of eminent artists of Greek Modern Art.
Getting to know Theofilos
A brochure exclusively dedicated to the painter Theofilos is distributed to children from 10 to 15 years old. Through a quick representation of the artist and the man Theofilos, the children get to know about the artist and his works of art.
Through a series of questions and through an emotional, theoretical, visual and practical approach the pupils learn to decode the painting of the artist as well as to receive the messages he wanted to give.

Through a quick representation of the artist and the man Theofilos, the children get to know about the artist and his works of art. Through an emotional, theoretical, visual and practical approach the pupils learn to decode the painting of the artist as well as to receive the messages he wanted to give.
Visual Trailing
This folder contains a number of activities for children who attend kindergarden based on the works of art and has as objective the creative approach of younger ages. The works of art of the 20th century in Greece constituted the basis for the creation of a number of activities of various subjects in accordance with the goals of the Curriculum of the kindergarden. This folder is given to the kindergardens in order to work them out at school with the children and prepare them for their upcoming visit to the museum.
 
   
Getting to know the works of art of the Museum
For high school children, there is a book available that presents in general Greek painting up to 1960 as this is shown through the Museum's collections. Through the articles about the landscapes, the portraits and the sculptures the pupil gets to play with the personalities of Modern Greek Art and he to travel to all these landscapes trying to find the "lost" paintings by identifying the works of art of the Museum.
